Southlake Climbs List of Texas’ 50 Safest Cities

Jun 26, 2017 08:04AM ● By Audrey Sellers

Southlake is an even safer place to call home in 2017. SafeWise, an authority on security and home safety, released its list of the 50 safest cities in Texas. Southlake climbed to No. 25, up from its previous ranking of No. 27. Neighboring towns Trophy Club and Colleyville topped the list at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively.

To identify the safest cities in Texas, SafeWise reviewed the most recent FBI Crime Report statistics along with population data, eliminating all cities with fewer than 10,000 residents as well as any cities that failed to submit a complete crime report to the FBI.

From there, SafeWise evaluated the remaining cities, narrowing it down based on the number of reported violent crimes and property crimes in each city. To further level the playing field, researchers calculated the likelihood of these crimes occurring out of 1,000 people in each city.
