On Friday, Dragon Football will play the scheduled 7 p.m. game in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. However, student support groups—Dragon Band, Emerald Belles, CREW and cheerleaders—will not travel to Oklahoma as previously planned. The charter bus company originally reserved for student groups will instead be used by FEMA for the statewide and regional emergency caused by Hurricane Harvey.
“The challenges we face regarding Friday night football are in no way comparable to the tragic events unfolding in communities south of us. We want to be sure that the state has every available resource it needs to take care of the emergency at hand,” superintendent Dr. David Faltys said in an email to Dragon families. “The state/federal government needs every available resource it can find to help our neighbors and fellow Texans. We support and understand the severity of that need.”
If you purchased tickets online through Etix and paid by credit card, call the Etix help center at 1-800-514-3849 to receive a refund. If you paid by cash or check, email Taylor Fielder in the Carroll ISD Athletic Office at Taylor.Fielder@southlakecarroll.edu. CISD will issue a full refund to those who purchased tickets and will no longer be going as a result of this decision.
“With the crisis facing so many families and public school districts in the communities around Houston, we hope you understand that this decision was made considering all the facts available to us based on limited transportation options, costs for this change and the safety of our students,” Dr. Faltys said.
