It's hard to believe this weekend is supposed to be a sunny one with all of these cold fronts moving through town. But, it could make for a great few days to get out there and take on the town. Whether you want to jump on a ride at the rodeo or want to learn how to make an iPad movie, there's plenty going on in the area this weekend. Find out how you can entertain your family this weekend.
The rodeo has made its way back to Fort Worth, and we are ready to break out our boots and hit the stock shows. Bring your kids out to enjoy a jam-packed entertainment lineup including everything from Western music to livestock shows to steer wrestling to barrel racing. The indoor rodeo will be held inside the Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum and will be in town until February 3, so don’t miss your chance to see the action up close in person. Plus, it’s a great way for your family to show a little Texas pride.
Do you have a Boy or Girl Scout in the house? Take them out to the 39th Annual Trade-O-Ree presented by the International Scouting Collectors Association. You can buy, sell and trade any memorabilia you may have around your home and meet up with other hobbyists. You can walk away with a few new pieces or even with a little bit of spending money. Either way, it’s a fun weekend event to show your kids how influential their groups are.
Bring your children ages 6-12 out to the Apple Southlake Town Square location on Saturday, January 20, to get their creative juices flowing. During this Kids Hour, aspiring videographers can learn different camera techniques using an iPad Pro. They will also create a professional movie trailer with iMovie, so they will learn how to work with the software. Your kids can either BYOI (bring your own iPad), or you can borrow one from the store. You can sign up online on their website.
Come out on Saturday to enjoy a beautiful reading from world-renowned author and artist Sandra Magsamen from her new book, You!. She teaches people of all ages to follow their hearts and dream big to experience a life full of adventure. Also happening this weekend, Pre-K through 12th grade educators can get 25 percent off most books, toys, games, movies and music at the Barnes & Noble in Southlake Town Square. So if you are a teacher with a few kids that are looking for a new book to flip through, now is your chance to grab a few at a discount.
Do your little ones have a sweet tooth? Travel to a place far far away with the Taste Buds Kitchen’s Galazy Donuts Workshop on Saturday. Your family will learn how to create a galaxy glaze that will make all of your treats out of this world. With their swirling colors and helpful donut secrets, everyone will walk out with a smile. Plus, it’s a great way to bond with your kids and create something together. Class spots run for $28 per parent and child pair, and you will walk away with a happy tummy. Sounds like a great morning activity to us.
