Looking for a warm environment to promote your fitness while also supporting a worthy cause? Come out to the 12th annual Jiggle Butt Run on Saturday, January 27.
This ladies-only 5K is the perfect way to get active in the women empowerment movement while also staying active. Females of all ages and fitness levels can run or walk the flat course on the University of Texas at Arlington’s campus. Over the past three years, more than 2,000 runners have shown up each race day in good spirits ready to make a difference. The race is also walkers, strollers and paws friendly – as long as your fluffy friend is on a leash, so it’s sure to be an energetic morning. The 5K also does a lot of good for the community by supporting SafeHaven of Tarrant County.
The Jiggle Butt Run got its start in 2006 with the help of three friends who were out running and found $100. They decided to take that money and start up a race for women by women. Since then, the Jiggle Butt Run has raised more than $170,000 for SafeHaven. Of that, $50,000 of the proceeds came from last year’s race alone. And that’s on top of all the donations of items like toiletries, bedding, childcare supplies and clothing collected at the races and given to shelters in Tarrant County. The race will be taking donations this year as well in the parking garages for SafeHaven, so be sure to check their website for the shelter’s immediate needs.
Pick up your packet before the race at The Runner on Thursday. They are also hosting the pre-event party from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., so stick around to enjoy treats, drinks, back massages and much more. You can also sign up to run on race day, so there’s no reason to miss this fun-packed event.
