Jumping for Joy

Mar 29, 2018 09:19AM ● Published by Ashley Madonna

We all need a little bit more JOY in our lives. So throughout the month of March, the Southlake police and fire departments partnered up with The Joy Project to collect bunnies and bears to benefit patients and families in local children’s hospitals.

Locals dropped off more than 200 stuffed animals at CISD schools and local businesses for these patients.

The Joy Project is also helping collect monetary contributions to purchase toiletries for Cook Children’s Medical Center’s family members who stay for an extended period of time at the hospital or arrive unexpectedly due to an emergency.

Haley Whatley started The Joy Project back in 2000 by collecting stuffed animals for the children at Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth. The group has collected more than 50,000 bunnies and bears over the last 17 years.
