Everywhere you turn this weekend, there's a festival waiting. Whether your kids love art, books, cars or rides, you'll find it at one of these family-friendly celebrations. Now all you have to decide is which of these events will you be hitting up this weekend.
From Thursday to Sunday, locals will come from all over the Metroplex to enjoy the Main ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival. Running for more than 27 city blocks from the courthouse to Sundance Square, this dynamic event will feature 223 juried artists from across the country – making it one of the largest art festivals in the country. The weekend is sure to be full of live entertainment, fantastic grub and art vendors everyone can enjoy.
For rocking tunes and a whole lot of festive family fun, head over to the Grand Prairie Main Street Fest running Friday through Sunday. The concert acts include Josh Turner, Bradley Banning, Micky and the Motorcars, Wade Bowen and Grand Prairie’s very own Tejas Brothers, Monica Saldivar, La Mafia and The Inspiration Band. After taking in the performances, make sure to enjoy the carnival rides, arts-and-crafts area, KIDZONE and all of the other novelty entertainment.
If your teen or tween can often be found with his or her nose in a book, make your way to the North Texas Teen Book Festival at the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas. More than 70 of the country’s best young adult authors will be coming out to engage in panel discussions, publisher events and book signings. Some of the biggest names include Dav Pilkey, Captain Underpants series; Angie Thomas, The Hate U Give; and Cassandra Clare, Mortal Instruments series. With all of this lively entertainment, your kids will have to hold onto their bookmarks.
For classic cars that will get everyone’s engines revving, head over to Arlington for the seventh annual Concours d’ Elegance of Texas. This three-day weekend celebration will let guests get a close look at some powerful vehicles. On Friday, a few of your kids’ favorite Looney Tune characters will send off the cars participating in a non-stop, 41-mile route ending with a lap around the Motorsport Ranch track. Be sure to stick around throughout the weekend because Sunday’s agenda will let your kids get a closer look at select vintage motorcars. It’s the perfect weekend for the car fanatics in your home.
Get in touch with the planet by heading out to the world’s largest environmental experience, EarthX. Running from Friday to Sunday, this conference is bringing together tons of speakers, presentations and technological innovations for one inspiring weekend. And there’s plenty of fun, engaging ways for your kids to participate. Whether you want to learn how to climb a tree rope and harness style with Tree Climbers International’s interactive exhibit, stop by the petting zoo or catch EarthxFilm – an educational film festival screening lots of family-friendly content, there are plenty of adventures just waiting to be explored.
