Southlake’s former Toys ’R’ Us location has a new tenant. Overstock, a furniture and mattress store, opened their doors in Southlake Corners on August 8. The retailer, located nearby big names like HomeGoods and Staples, will act as a short-term tenant while RPAI Southwest Management looks to fill the space with a long-term tenant.
“While we cannot provide any details regarding any pending long-term lease, our goal is to always add attractive and popular retailers to support the Southlake community,” Marketing Director at Southlake Town Square Liz Ashley Barth says.
Barth could not comment on how long Overstock would be located in that space, but she said that RPAI had worked with the retailer in the past to fill other openings.
“Overstock has operated at several RPAI properties including Denton Crossing, Watauga Pavilion, Royal Oaks in Houston and Central Texas Marketplace in Waco,” Barth says. “The tenant has been a great partner to work with, and we were happy to backfill the large space that was formerly occupied by Toys ’R’ Us.”
We’ll have to wait and see who becomes the permanent retailer to move into the Southlake Corners space. But, for now, the hole left by the now-closed toy store has been filled.
