HAUNT JAUNT 5K AND FUN RUN

OCTOBER 20

PLANO | Quick — look behind you! If ghosts, clowns and witches are chasing you, then you’re probably at Plano’s Haunt Jaunt 5K and Fun Run! Everyone comes in costumes and tennis shoes at this annual nighttime event, where even the youngest members of your tribe will enjoy running or walking along the park trails at Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve, seeing the spooky scenes set up throughout the course. Dress in your most creative ensemble, so you can participate in the Halloween costume contest at the event. As an added bonus, you’ll burn plenty of calories during this eerie event, so afterward, you can eat all the candy you want guilt-free.

THE HALLOWEEN HALF AND 5K

OCTOBER 20

FORT WORTH | Some people are afraid of running, but at the Halloween Half and 5K in Fort Worth, the only thing that will scare you is how much fun you’re having! Go all out for your costume — the more creative, scary or detailed the better! After you finish either the half marathon or 5K race, you can receive a monstrous medal, refuel at delicious food trucks and snack on your favorite Halloween treats. Running, eating and an excuse to wear a costume? Sounds like the perfect way to celebrate Halloween.

2018 NORTH TEXAS WALK FOR PKD

OCTOBER 27

SOUTHLAKE TOWN SQUARE | Come run in the square while raising funds for Polycystic Kidney Disease at the 2018 North Texas Walk for PKD. Locals can either participate in the 5K Run the Square at 8:30 a.m. or bring out the kids for the Children’s Walk at 9 a.m. Either way, make sure to stick around after for their pumpkin party in Southlake Town Square where locals can compete in the Kids and Dogs Best Costume Contests. Win or lose, everyone will leave knowing they made a difference.

Theater/Shows

A DOLL’S HOUSE

OCTOBER 12-NOVEMBER 4

WATERTOWER THEATRE | Dolls have the perfect lives with styled hair, fashionable clothes and pristine houses. But real life is not quite as flawless. In “A Doll’s House,” Nora and Torvald Helmer appear to have fairytale-like lives; however, Nora has a secret to hide: For years, she’s been paying off a secret debt obtained in a shady way, which saved her husband’s life. Now that he is better, Nora is being confronted by blackmail and pushed to reveal the truth. In the process, the couple realizes their lives may not be their own. This thrilling story was written in 1879 by Henrik Ibsen, but the message about trying to make our lives fit into perfect dollhouses is just as powerful today.

TOM PAPA

OCTOBER 27

WYLY THEATRE | Tom Papa’s comedy is expressed in many different ways — through writing and performing on the nationally syndicated radio show, “Live From Here;” writing his first book, “Your Dad Stole My Rake: And Other Family Dilemmas;” being a regular on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and “Conan;” starring in three stand-up specials; hosting a podcast and SiriusXM show, “Come to Papa” that features celebrity guests; and co-starring with Matt Damon in “The Informant.” You can see this funny man live as he tells jokes he has honed over the last two decades as a comedian.

KEVIN HART

OCTOBER 26

AMERICAN AIRLINES CENTER | From the adorably sarcastic bunny named Snowball on “The Secret Life of Pets” to Fridge on “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” and Ben Barber on the “Ride Along” series, it’s impossible to choose a favorite character played by Kevin Hart. The 2014 MTV Comedic Genius Award winner started his career by performing in comedy clubs before being cast in his first TV show, “Undeclared,” in 2001. Over the last 17 years, he has gained fans from starring in movies, releasing comedy albums and hosting TV shows. Now you can see him live when he stops by Dallas for his “Irresponsible” tour where his jokes will feel even more raw and hilarious in real life.

Concerts

BRUNO MARS

OCTOBER 14-15

AMERICAN AIRLINES CENTER | Funk music is seeing a revival, and it’s all thanks to Bruno Mars. The Hawaiian pop/funk/contemporary R&B singer first came on the scene in 2010 with the release of his debut album featuring singles “Just the Way You Are” and “Grenade.” Since then, he has won 11 Grammy Awards and sold more than 130 million records internationally. See the wildly entertaining, Michael Jackson-reminiscent singer during his concert to promote his third album, “24K Magic.” You’ll be enchanted by the costumes, sets and choreography set to favorite songs like the title track, “That’s What I Like” and “Finesse.”

FORT WORTH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

FAMILY CONCERT

OCTOBER 21

WHITE’S CHAPEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH | The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra will return to Southlake this month as part of their family concert series. Their performance of “The Young Persons’ Guide to the Orchestra” by Britten will introduce music lovers to the different instruments of the orchestra and provide a tour of each of their talents. This family-friendly night is sure to get everyone excited about the classics.

ED SHEERAN

OCTOBER 27

AT&T STADIUM | The word “Perfect” is spot-on when describing Ed Sheeran, who has an irresistibly smooth voice and a way of putting words together that is thought-provoking and beautiful. This month, the red-headed singer is coming to town to perform his music live, including “Perfect,” “Shape of You,” “Castle on the Hill,” “Thinking Out Loud” and other hits from his three studio albums. The Grammy Award-winning British pop artist will be promoting his latest album, “÷,” on the tour, which was named the best-selling album in the world in 2017. If you are a fan of Ed Sheeran’s delightful sound, romantic lyrics and impressive acoustic guitar skills, then this show will be absolutely perfect — just like the man himself.

POSTY FEST FEATURING POST MALONE

OCTOBER 28

DOS EQUIS PAVILION | Don’t let the face tattoos, long braids and gold teeth fool you, Post Malone is a serious musician who is making music that drifts between hip-hop, pop, rock, R&B and rap. Post Malone (born Austin Richard Post) grew up in Grapevine, and released his first album in 2016. He made history when his second album, “Beerbongs & Bentleys,” broke Spotify’s streaming record the first day it was released with 78.8 million streams around the world. Catch this Billboard Music Award-winner when he headlines the first Posty Fest where he will be performing hit songs “Rockstar” and “Psycho” among others. This all-day music festival will also showcase other artists including Travis Scott and Tyler, the Creator. Party with Post and you won’t be disappointed!
