From the Lombardi to the Oscar to whatever the “Masked Singer” trophy is supposed to be, February is all about statuettes that confirm the careers of actors, athletes and B-list celebrities.
Starting off the shiny-statue season is the 54th Super Bowl, which airs on Feb. 2 from the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. We’re relieved to say the Patriots won’t be there this year. Tom Brady could do everyone a favor by retiring early and keeping the Patriots from making a comeback next season.
After Jennifer Lopez and Shakira are done putting everything “On The Floor” during the half-time show, some may forget to change the channel and back their way into watching Fox’s season three premiere of “The Masked Singer.” Who will be behind the costumes of the big, fuzzy creatures singing to Ken Jeong? We don’t know but suffice to say it can’t be previous winners T-Pain or Wayne Brady.
When you’re ready for real red carpet entertainment, tune in to ABC on Feb. 9 for the 92nd Academy Awards live from the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. We love seeing streaming services like Netflix get some attention with the likes of the gangster drama “The Irishman” and the divorce eulogy “Marriage Story,” yet we’re just as excited to see historical epics like “1917” and dark comedies like “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” also snag nominations. We’re not sure who’s going to walk away with the Oscar for best picture, but we’re pretty sure Warren Beatty won’t be reading J. Lo's name from an envelope this year.
