State Fair of Texas
Fair food fanatics — this is your year. The Texas State Fair is holding virtually voting for its 2020 Big Tex Choice Awards.
Unlike previous years, where new fair food concoctions are voted on, this year’s awards is bringing all the previous winners to crown the ultimate fair food champion. Fifteen years of winners are participating in this year’s awards, from chicken fried bacon to buffalo chicken in a flapjack.
Fair food lovers can vote online, and today marks the beginning of Round 2 — a.k.a. The Savory and Sweet 16. This round will last until September 28 and Round 3 — the Creative Eight — will run from September 29 to October 5.
The Fried-nal Four voting will follow from October 6 to October 8 with the Championship Showdown voting beginning on October 9 and ending on October 12. The champion of champions in fair food will be announced on October 13 on the Texas State Fair’s Facebook page.
So if you love a cotton candy taco or deep fried jambalaya, now’s the time to support your favorite fair food in the 2020 Big Tex Choice Awards.
And if you haven’t already, make sure to get your tickets to this year’s State Fair. Guests will be able to drive through the fair this year due to the pandemic and even take pictures with a masked up Big Tex — who officially went up on September 16.
