Clear a spot on your calendar: details for the ninth annual Run4Elise -- a cause near and dear to the hearts of many Southlake residents -- have been released.
The 1 mile, certified 5k and virtual race/walk is set for May 10, according to a release sent out by the Swim4Elise Foundation. The Foundation's stated goal is 900 runners and walkers, with donations and support going towards water safety classroom education.
Those interested in participating or donating can visit the Swim4Elise website. Potential sponsors can receive more information there, as well.
A discount code is available to those that register prior to April 15. Type in "HonorElise" when prompted for a discount.
The event serves as a water safety platform funding the nonprofit’s mission of water safety awareness in memory of Elise Cerami, who fatally drowned in June 2016. Per a release from the Foundation, 103 Texas families reported losing a child to drowning in 2024, with the majority of these fatalities between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Nonfatal drowning estimates were anywhere between 500 and 800 children in 2024.
