A major shakeup in the home retail world could have a direct impact close to home.
Bed Bath & Beyond has agreed to acquire The Container Store in a deal valued at approximately $150 million, according to financial filings released this week. The acquisition is expected to close in July and will bring together two well-known names in the home goods and organization space.
Under the new ownership, stores will be rebranded as “The Container Store / Bed Bath & Beyond,” signaling a hybrid retail concept that blends organization solutions with broader home offerings. The move is part of Bed Bath & Beyond’s larger strategy to build what it calls an “everything home ecosystem,” combining retail, services and home improvement resources under one umbrella.
The acquisition also includes The Container Store’s premium brands and services, such as its custom closet systems and in-home design capabilities. These offerings are expected to expand, with new services like cabinetry, flooring, lighting and more potentially rolling out in stores.
For local shoppers, that could mean an upgraded, more comprehensive in-store experience — one that goes beyond bins and baskets and into full-service home projects.
It’s been a transformative year for The Container Store — including its Town Square location, which remained open even after the company’s 2025 bankruptcy filing. Over the past year, the brand has focused on stabilizing its business following Chapter 11, making key leadership changes and refining its product assortment. Now, this new partnership signals a clear turning point, positioning The Container Store for growth rather than recovery.
While specific changes to the Southlake location have not yet been announced, the store is among more than 100 “premium” locations expected to remain open and play a key role in the company’s future.
In short: the store isn’t going anywhere — but it may soon offer a whole lot more.
