Grapevine Mills has officially welcomed a titan of British heritage to its retail lineup with the opening of Clarks Shoes & Footwear.
Taking over the storefront previously occupied by Toys "R" Us— now located in an adjacent suite — Clark's represents a significant $135,000 investment in the mall’s footwear sector. It becomes the fifth location in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, joining a strategic cluster of outlets in Allen, Grand Prairie, and Dallas as the brand continues to solidify its footprint in North Texas.
While many shoppers recognize Clarks for its presence in modern shopping centers, the company’s arrival in Grapevine brings two centuries of craftsmanship to the local community. Founded in 1825 in Street, Somerset, by brothers Cyrus and James Clark, the brand began with a humble slipper made from sheepskin offcuts. Over the next 200 years, it evolved from a village tannery into a global powerhouse that pioneered foot-shaped "hygienic" shoes and revolutionary comfort technologies.
Today, the brand remains synonymous with the "smart-casual" aesthetic, bridging the gap between formal dress shoes and athletic sneakers.
The Grapevine location is expected to be a draw for both families and fashion enthusiasts, offering the brand’s signature "Originals" line. These include the Desert Boot, inspired by WWII military gear and popularized by 1960s mods, and the Wallabee, a staple of both Jamaican dancehall culture and 1990s New York hip-hop.
