As people are getting back into gyms trying to shed their quarantine weight, one boutique fitness studio recently opened in Southlake to help residents with their fitness goals. Founded by former Texas Rangers pitcher Tanner Scheppers and his wife Jessica, Collective MVMT is a movement-based fitness studio that delivers intensive cardio and strength training through two classes — cycle and Megaformer.
“We felt like these two workouts are complementary,” co-founder Natalie Adams says. “Most people need both strength training and cardio in their workout routine to achieve the results they want. We feel this combination works well together to provide a fair mix of everything you need to fulfill your personal fitness goals.”
Both of its workouts are high-intensity and low-impact, which means they’re easy on the body. Natalie says Collective MVMT’s workouts are accessible to everyone regardless of their circumstance.
“It’s great for people of all ages and fitness levels, as well as those with injuries that require modifications," Natalie says. “That was something we really wanted to focus on with the two methods we offer.”
With the Collective MVMT team looking to open since last year, one of the few obstacles they didn’t expect to face while opening was a pandemic. With COVID-19 still on many people’s minds, Natalie says the studio is taking numerous safety precautions such as limiting occupancy, conducting temperature checks, restricting access to its showers and locker rooms, requiring masks in the common areas and cleaning equipment with CDC-approved materials before and after each workout.
“We definitely didn’t envision opening during a pandemic,” Natalie says. “We’re taking every practical measure that we can to keep people safe and healthy.”
As far as what the Collective MVMT team hopes to do in the area, Natalie says they hope Collective MVMT brings people together during a time of loneliness and isolation.
“Even though people can’t be together in the way they typically would be in the past, it’s still a way to come, be around people, not feel so isolated and do something good for yourself,” Natalie says. “Community is more important now than ever.”
Collective MVMT is open now at 2251 E. Southlake Blvd., Suite 100. To learn more about the studio and its membership options, call 817.410.2060 or visit CollectiveMVMT.com.
