Travelers passing through Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport will soon be able to grab a taste of Chicago before takeoff.
Portillo's has announced plans to open its first-ever airport location inside DFW Airport's Terminal B, bringing the iconic fast-casual restaurant's famous hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, and chocolate cake to one of the nation's busiest travel hubs.
Unlike the brand's traditional standalone restaurants, the airport outpost will feature a smaller dine-in-only format designed specifically for travelers, according to the company website. The streamlined concept will include walk-up ordering, self-service kiosks, mobile order pickup, and a dedicated Grab & Go area, making it easy for passengers to enjoy a quick meal between flights. The restaurant will also offer seating for more than 50 guests.
While compact in size, the menu will still deliver many of the items that have made Portillo's a fan favorite since its beginnings in the Chicago area. Guests can expect signature Chicago-style hot dogs, the chain's famous Italian beef sandwiches, char-grilled burgers and its legendary chocolate cake.
The airport opening marks another step in Portillo's continued North Texas expansion. The company already operates restaurants across the Metroplex, including locations in Grapevine, Arlington, Denton, Allen and The Colony, with additional growth planned throughout the region. For Southlake residents and frequent DFW travelers, the new location offers a convenient way to grab a familiar favorite before boarding a flight or while waiting for a connection.
Portillo's has not yet announced an official opening date for the Terminal B restaurant, but travelers can sign up through the company's website for updates as construction progresses.
