Dr. Michael Briseño, a local orthopedic spine surgeon and consistently recognized Top Doc, has earned a Barricaid® Platinum Center of Excellence designation from Intrinsic Therapeutics, Inc.
The distinction recognizes physicians and care teams who demonstrate clinical excellence and a commitment to improving outcomes for high-risk lumbar discectomy patients. Dr. Briseño practices with North Texas Orthopedic & Spine Center and Texas Health Orthopedic & Spine Surgery Center Heritage.
Barricaid® is used in certain lower-back disc surgeries to help support the repaired area and lower the chance of the disc herniating again. According to Intrinsic Therapeutics, the device has been shown to reduce the risk of a repeat surgery for reherniation by 81% in many patients.
“I’m honored to receive this Platinum Center of Excellence designation,” Dr. Briseño said. “This recognition reflects the commitment of our teams at North Texas Orthopedic & Spine Center and Texas Health Orthopedic & Spine Surgery Center Heritage to delivering thoughtful, evidence-based care.”
Intrinsic Therapeutics said the designation reflects Dr. Briseño’s continued commitment to surgical excellence, patient-centered care, thoughtful patient selection and durable outcomes.
Barricaid has been implanted in more than 13,000 patients and is supported by clinical studies across multiple patient populations.
