The Jewel Box will be The Westin Southlake's new event space, with a price tag of just over $4 million.
Opened to much acclaim in 2021, The Westin Dallas Southlake is about to shine even brighter. The award-winning Southlake hotel is adding an exciting standalone event venue — affectionately dubbed "The Jewel Box" — and the local events landscape is about to hit a new level of style.
SRH Hospitality Southlake Realty LLC, which operates The Westin Dallas Southlake, received preliminary approval from the Southlake City Council on March 3, with a final vote expected at the April 7 meeting. The project carries an estimated cost of $4.09 million, per a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, with a targeted completion date in the fourth quarter of this year.
The name is no accident. CEO Paul Barham of SRH Hospitality described the design as resembling an engagement ring box — and the architectural renderings certainly live up to the metaphor. A striking cylindrical exterior wrapped in gold and warm wood tones gives way to floor-to-ceiling glass, a soaring 21-foot interior ceiling, and a wraparound terrace perfectly suited for cocktail receptions.
The 5,016-square-foot addition will offer approximately 3,500 square feet of usable event space, with capacity for roughly 175–180 guests for a wedding and up to 200 for a standup reception. A covered walkway will connect the new venue to the existing 261-room hotel, while an outdoor area will feature astroturf and a 30-by-8-foot LED screen — ideal for everything from corporate gatherings to celebrations under the Texas sky.
General Manager Scott Paradine says the addition will deepen what the Westin already does well: "It will allow us to enhance the sense of intimacy and attention to detail that defines our events. Being connected to the hotel by a covered walkway, this standalone venue will offer views of our resort-style pool and green space — the feel of a private event venue."
Barham echoes the vision.
"The Jewel Box is designed to shine, both architecturally and experientially," he said. "From its striking glass and gold exterior to the wraparound terrace built for cocktail moments, every detail is intentional."
With the Westin's existing conference center already offering multiple salons, ballroom space, and the Skyline Ballroom with terrace, The Jewel Box rounds out a truly comprehensive events portfolio. As Barham put it simply — there will be "nothing like it in the metroplex."
