After closing the studio in March due to COVID-19, the yoga studio. will not be reopening its doors.
Opened in 2018 by Amy Ogden and Natasha Smith, the yoga studio. taught different types of vinyasa flow, aerial yoga and high-intensity interval training. Instructor Stephanie Thompson says in an Instagram post that she is heartbroken at the studio’s closure.
“The studio has been my home for the past 18 months,” Stephanie says. “I was counting down the days [until] we could all be back in the beautiful studio together.”
The studio voluntarily closed in March and shifted its classes to a limited online schedule through Instagram live. While a previous executive order by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced that gyms could reopen at limited capacity starting on May 18, that was one week too late for Stephanie as she announced the studio’s closure on May 9.
“Of course I’m not shocked, but it doesn’t make the heartbreak any less,” Stephanie says. “I gave everything I had to make the studio a success, but we just came up short.”
Stephanie thanked the community that supported the yoga studio. throughout the past year and a half. While she doesn’t know where she will go from here, Stephanie says she will be back teaching yoga at some capacity as soon as possible. You can follow her @stephthompsonyoga on Instagram.
