Construction crews install signage ahead of the 2015 opening of Trader Joe's in Southlake Town Square.
Starting this July 21, one of Southlake’s most notable grocery spots is getting a refresh. Trader Joe’s, which opened in Southlake Town Square in 2015, will kick off a $750,000 renovation that promises to elevate the now ten-year old store—while still keeping all the quirky charm and cult-favorite products we know and love.
According to a recent filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the store’s makeover is expected to wrap up by September 1. While the store is expected to remain open throughout the process, customers should expect to see some short-term issues due to construction.
What’s Changing?
Unfortunately, there are no current plans to revamp the parking lot at Southlake #406. However, the 10,760-square-foot store is receiving an extensive interior upgrade that includes brand-new refrigeration and freezer cases, an upgraded break room for staff, refreshed restrooms and an overall facelift to the main sales floor. One standout addition: a new CO₂-based refrigeration system, which is not only energy-efficient but also more environmentally friendly.
For regulars, this renovation means quicker checkouts, happy staffers and an overall upgrade to the atmosphere—all while preserving the same TJ’s charm that makes grocery shopping here feel more like a weekly tradition than a chore. And for the sustainability-minded, the shift to greener tech marks a welcome step forward in responsible retailing.
Despite the construction, store leaders aim to minimize disruption. Hours will remain consistent, and Trader Joe’s plans to stay stocked with your go-to seasonal items, snacks, and weekly staples.
Come September, Southlake shoppers can look forward to a sleek, modernized space that feels fresh but still familiar.
Stay tuned for updates and a peek at the revamped space this fall. We’ll be first in line for the cookie butter.
