Carroll Senior High School junior Tatthva Sharma helped Frisco Badminton Academy make history this month, winning the inaugural Club Championship North America in California.
Held Sept. 12–13 at Manhattan Beach Badminton Club, the competition brought together six founding clubs from across North America. Frisco Badminton Academy finished first, becoming the tournament’s first-ever champion.
“We knew that we weren’t just competing for a medal,” Sharma says. “We were competing to make history for our club.”
The weekend also gave players the chance to meet badminton legends Lee Chong Wei and Saina Nehwal.
For Sharma, the title was especially meaningful because it came at the very first edition of the competition.
“Being part of this team and winning the inaugural championship was an incredible experience,” she says.
