The city of Roanoke canceled their annual Celebrate Roanoke event scheduled for October, the city said in a Facebook post.
Concerns about the increased number of COVID-19 cases and concerns surrounding social distancing contributed to the decision to cancel the event. Funds raised for Celebrate Roanoke will now be used toward making their Christmas event “bigger and better than ever,” the city says.
“We appreciate your patience as we navigate through these difficult times,” the city says. “Stay tuned as we’ll be sharing details on Roanoke’s new Christmas festival very soon.”
