From Jan. 13-18, Southlake Town Hall is stepping into the past as it hosts the American Revolution Experience, an immersive pop-up history exhibit that brings the founding of our country to life.
Commemorating the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Revolutionary War in 2026, the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the American Battlefield Trust have partnered to create a traveling exhibition that connects modern audiences with the people and places that shaped the birth of our nation. When Southlake resident Michaelann Bush, a member of the Captain Molly Corbin DAR Chapter and chair of the America 250 Committee, heard this exhibit would be touring select cities nationwide, she immediately set to work bringing it to Southlake.
Through a combination of photographs, illustrations, maps and technology, this free, weeklong exhibit presents diverse viewpoints and experiences, touching on the journeys — both literal and figurative — of Patriots, Loyalists and even international allies. Rather than focusing exclusively on generals and famous statesmen, it introduces audiences to ordinary everyday people who personally lived through the history we recall today.
The traveling exhibit includes multiple 7-foot-tall banners and interactive digital kiosks that use storytelling and illustration. Although geared toward middle and high schoolers, this immersive exhibit is engaging for history lovers of all ages who want to reconnect with their American roots.
To kick off this historic week, the Daughters of the American Revolution will host an exclusive preview of the exhibit for the public on Sunday, Jan. 12, at 4 p.m. in the Town Hall lobby.
