The Bob Jones Nature Center barn saw new beginnings earlier this month.
On Saturday, Dec. 11, the community came together to begin the first steps to constructing a new barn for the preserve. Families gathered and played yard games, enjoyed hay rides and interacted with animals at the petting zoo. Afterward, city staff laid down the foundation for the new barn.
“This is a unique opportunity to preserve a very special part of Southlake history,” Southlake Mayor John Huffman says. “It’s important to make sure we have special places like Bob Jones for future generations because that’s what it is. It’s an investment into our future and our kids’ futures."
Construction is expected to begin in August or September of next year for a December 2022 completion.
