Dragon Girls Basketball
About the Team
Having won seven consecutive district tiles under Head CoachbrTerri Morrison, the Lady Dragons basketball program has been nothing short ofbrexcellent in recent memory. Heading into the 2015-16 year filled with promisebrand young talent, the Lady Dragons have had to endure the difficult task ofbrreplacing “All Everything” point guard and Carroll Senior High assists leaderbrKennedy Leonard. Although Southlake Carroll has had to replace one of the mostbrdecorated players in school history, Morrison returns junior Priscilla Smeengebrand Anna Hurlburt, who finished last season second and third on the team inbrscoring.
At 6'-0,” Smeenge has considerable length and talent, and hasbra great campaign thus far leading the team in most statistical categories. Currentlybr12th in the area in points scored with 379 and an average of 15.2brpoints per game, Smeenge has been a constant bright spot for the green andbrwhite leading the team in rebounding at 7.6, while averaging 2.6 assists perbrgame. Not too far behind Smeenge in the points and rebound category is senior captainbrAnna Hurlburt. A deft passer for her position, the 6'-2” forward is second onbrthe team in both points (13.0) ppg and rebounds (6.7) rpg, while leading thebrteam in assists at 2.7 apg.
Season Update
After winning 20-plus games last year, the Lady Dragons havebra long way to go to get back to that mark, as they currently are 14-11, (4-2)brthis year. Sitting in fourth place in district 7-6A after losing to undefeatedbrdistrict opponent Euless Trinity and Colleyville Heritage in back-to-backbrcontests, Terri Morrison's ball club will have to make adjustments after losingbrsophomore point guard Brook Lay to an undisclosed season-ending injury. Lay,brwhose 2.0 assist per game placed third on the team, while leading the team inbrthree point percentage and free throw percentage at 43% and 86% respectively, brwill be missed. Forced into a point guard by committee strategy, Morrison'sbrsquad will rely on senior Natalie Flexerbrand freshman Kayla Colan to handle the majority of ball-handling duties as thebrDragons move to finish up the season.
Having played much better on the road (8-5) than away thisbrseason (3-4), Morrison's team has been nothing short of potent offensively asbrthey rank in the top 20 in the area in points per game at 45.4 ppg. With sixbrgames left in the 2015-2016 regular season, the Dragons look to make a push asbrTerri Morison's team looks to win its eight straight district title underbrMorrison, and return back to the playoffs.

We may go about things in a slightly different fashion than some ofbrthe previous teams, but we will always strive to play up to the highbrstandards of intensity and competitive greatness that have been the hallmarksbrof this program.”
