During its mid-September council meeting, The city of Southlake officially adopted a $130.5-million operating budget for the 2025 fiscal year, which starts Oct. 1, 2024. The budget, which is 3.0% more than 2024, includes $54.5 million dollars in its general operating fund to support basic city functions including police, fire, finance and administrative operations.
Offsetting the budget is an expected base of Total Operating Resources of $149.3 million, a 4.7% increase from a year ago. Of these funds, more than half (52.5%) are derived from sales taxes and property taxes in addition to water sales, hotel taxes and more.
Prepared with an overall property tax rate of $0.3050, the 2025 fiscal year budget includes another tax relief measure, its 14th according to official correspondence from city manager Alison Ortowski. Funding priorities for the year include $30 million for public utilities operations and maintenance, $1.25 million for park safety enhancements and $774,000 for facility maintenance to town hall and DPS headquarters.
