While many city offices remain closed, some facilities are reopening during Southlake’s recovery efforts from COVID-19.
After Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced the first phase of reopening Texas on Monday, April 27, Mayor Laura Hill announced on Facebook the first Southlake facilities that will reopen on Friday, May 1.
Pavilions at Bicentennial Park, Lonesome Dove Park and Liberty Park will be made available to the public, while Boo Boo’s Buddies Dog Park will reopen to both humans and canines at Bob Jones Park. Tennis and pickleball courts at Bicentennial Park will be available to the public, while batting cages at Bicentennial and Bob Jones Park will also reopen. Picnic tables, benches and restrooms will also open at these same facilities.
City facilities that will remain closed include the Southlake Town Hall, the Southlake Public Library and the Bob Jones Nature Center. Pilar Schank, Deputy Director of Public Relations, says the city is working on a reopening plan for the rest of the city’s facilities.
“We continue to encourage you to make the best possible decisions for yourself and your family by following expert guidance and advice, reducing the risk of being infected or infecting others, and staying up-to-date about the latest information,” Mayor Hill says on Facebook.
