The Southlake community isbrmourning the loss of retired Fire Chief, Bob Steele, who died January 7, 2016. He wasbr92 years old.
“Steele, along with hisbrwife Crystal, and their children, moved to Southlake in the 1950s. Steele beganbrhis career in 1967 as a volunteer firefighter and was the first paid fire Chiefbrfor the City of Southlake, serving for more than 20 years. Thanks to his leadershipbrand work with City mayors, council members and staff, he helped to create thebroutstanding fire department we have today. In fact in 2010, the City proclaimedbrSteele a ‘living legend' and thanked him for his work as the City's longest-servingbrfire chief,” according to an article on MySouthlakeNews.com.
Visitation for ChiefbrSteele is January 14 at 6 p.m. at White Chapel Church. The funeral will be heldbrJanuary 15 at 11 a.m. at the same location with graveside services immediatelybrfollowing at Bluebonnet Cemetery in Colleyville.
