ThebrSouthlake Carroll Cross Country teams traveled in different directions the weekend of Oct. 10, and competed at the 37th Annual Clovis Invitational inbrFresno, CA and at the Flyin' Hawks Invitational in Hurst, TX. The Elite boys and girls teams faced toughbrcompletion and a course filled with hills and sand in California, coming awaybrwith some strong performances. The Varsity and JV teams ran closer to home inbrHurst, TX.
HeadbrCoach Justin Leonard commented, “We are proud of the way our teams competed inbrthe final regular season meet this weekend. We are now headed into thebrchampionship part of our season and we can't wait to display all of the hardbrwork our kids have put in over the past year. Our district meet is Monday,brOctober 19th and we will look to run our best when it matters thebrmost.”
ThebrElite Dragon girls took an impressive 3rd place in California andbrwere led by senior Allison Esparza who captured 23rd place with timebrof 18:27 on this very tough 5k course. TigbrArcher was close behind with a 25th place finish (18:31), GillianbrMortimer came in next in 33rd place (18:43), Sarah Odneal was in 36th place (18:49) and KaylibrJones rounded out the scoring positions with 38th place (18:50). CatherinebrTracht (19:00), Ali White (19:20) and Ari Lopez (19:36) complete the Elite 8brrunners for the Dragon girls.
ThebrVarsity Dragon girls ran with determination and were led by Olivia Arriaza in 5thbrplace, Angie Riera coming in 45th, Sarah McCabe in 59th,brLauren Esparza in 60th and Gabrielle Bigalke in 85thbrplace.
ThebrElite Dragons boys came away with an 11th place finish and were ledbrby junior Reed Brown who took 13th place (15:32). Michael Simcho finished next in 40thbrplace (16:04), Michael Waugh came in 68th (16:17), Nic Fernandesbrplaced 87th (16:32) and Juan Arcila took 109th (16:45) tobrfinish out the top 5. Also competing wasbrTimou Toure with a 17:15 finish.
ThebrDragon Varsity Boys battled the tough course and had Connor Rutledge come in 62ndbrplace, followed by Chase Haddock in 78th, David Archer in 110th,brSam Kemps in 151st and Jackson Felkins in 162nd place.
ThebrDragons had Varsity and JV teams competing at the Flyin' Hawks Invite. The Varsity boys team taking 6thbrplace led by Enzo Mortimer (32nd) and the Varsity girls team taking 7thbrplace led by Isabelle Dominguez (10th).
ThebrJV's teams had a strong showing with a 2nd place finish for thebrgirls and a 4th place for the boys. brDrew Bliss led the JV boys team with a 8th place finish and WhitneybrWoods led the JV girls with a 3rd place finish.
