John Irish, social studies teacher at Carroll Senior High School,bris among the best in Texas when it comes to excellence in teaching thebrhumanities. He was named the 2016 Outstanding Teacher of the Year – Humanities bybrHumanities of Texas, a nonprofit dedicated to educational excellence.
Each year, the organization presents 15 awardsbrrecognizing and encouraging excellence in teaching the humanities in Texasbrschools. More than 700 teachers across the state were nominated for Humanitiesbrof Texas Outstanding Teaching Awards this year.
Humanities of Texas presents these awards annually tobrTexas social studies and language arts teachers who have made exemplarybrcontributions in teaching, curriculum development and extracurricularbrprogramming in their schools and community. Irish will receive a $5,000 prizebrand an additional $500 to CSHS for purchase of humanities-based instructionalbrmaterials.
