City of Southlake
After several months of construction, the Continental sidewalk loop is almost complete. After that, it's time to celebrate. One resident that will definitely be doing that is Southlake Mayor Laura Hill’s dog, Emma.
Sidewalk improvements to East Continental Boulevard have been in development since December, according to the public works department. According to MySouthlakeNews.com, about six-foot-wide sidewalks were installed at the north side, adding about four miles worth of walkways to the boulevard.
With the completion of the project nearing in the next few weeks, the city is looking to celebrate by having Emma leave her paw prints on the pavement, along with four other lucky dogs that will join her.
“We’re trying to mark it with their paws to celebrate the completion of the loop – kinda like they do at the Chinese theater,” Pilar Schank, Deputy Director of Public Relations, says. “The dogs can come and make their mark with Emma."
Residents who would like to submit their puppy pals for consideration can send a picture to Southlake Mobility via Facebook Messenger. Pilar says that entry submissions will be ongoing until the city has made its final selections. The sidewalk celebration will be scheduled later in March.
