Southlake Mayor Shawn McCaskill put pen to paper in citing his frustration over the Dove Road construction delays. Now, a letter is on the desk of two state representatives.
Entitled "Expedited Completion of Stalled SH 114 and Dove Road Construction," McCaskill's letter underlines his and the community's confusion over the project that began in January 2021 and has yet to be completed -- despite an initial "planned completion" of December 2024, per TxDOT.
The current completion date has been announced as fall 2025 by TxDOT.

"TxDOT's project at State Highway 114 and Dove Road is a mess in many ways, and Southlake residents have been impacted and inconvenienced by the garbage, blocked lanes and lack of activity," McCaskill wrote. "We are now asking our State Representative and State Senator to help us with TxDOT."
Zachary Construction Corporation is the listed construction company and has been paid around $40 million to date, per TxDOT.
