Grapevine welcomed a new downtown art installation to the city on June 22. Construction workers lowered a 3,000-pound globe on top of the city’s newest fountain, located in front of Cotton Patch Café.
According to a media release, the granite sphere fits into a hollow pedestal and is supported by pressurized water flow. The resulting aquaplaning allows families and children to interact with the globe, moving it in whichever direction they desire. The sphere also has a star etched into Texas, indicating Grapevine’s location on the global map.
You can check out the display now at 129 S. Main St. To learn more about Grapevine's public art installations, visit GrapevineTexasUSA.com.
