This summer, the City ofbrSouthlake is putting wellness at the forefront … again. Last year, Southlakebrstarted its LiveFit Wellness Challenge which included walks with Mayor LaurabrHill through city parks, a health fair and a 5K to cap it all off. The emphasisbrwas on getting outside and increasing physical activity, not only forbrindividuals, but for families, too. The LiveFit program was successful from thebrbeginning, with 300 runners participating in an end-of-season run.
New this summer is abrlecture series presented by Executive Medicine of Texas, a preventative andbrproactive medical practice that has won awards for its wellness programs andbrpublished books. “The addition of lectures is what makes LiveFit/LiveWell abrgreat partnership that will benefit so many people,” said Mayor Laura Hill.
The lecturers also hostbrthe nationally syndicated Staying Young Radio Show, where they educate peoplebrfrom coast to coast on a daily basis through Stay Young Medical Minutes andbrtheir long form show. They are able to bring that same energy to thebrLiveFit/LiveWell summer program. Mayor Hill commented, “I am excited to see thebrlecture series added to our city's health initiative. LiveFit/LiveWell is abrgreat way to educate - and education is always the best way to drive change.”
