The Southlake city council believes in Southlake, which is the inspiration for its new mural coming to Southlake Town Square.
Mayor Laura Hill announced the mural’s development during the city council meeting on Tuesday, August 18. Since the city first started talking about economic recovery, Mayor Hill says the city started brainstorming ways to bring more people to Southlake Town Square. Inspired by the new public art displays in New Orleans, Mayor Hill says they decided to add a “I Believe In Southlake” mural to Southlake Town Hall that will be developed by local artist Liz Bonham.
“I think it would be a fun place for kids to come by and take their picture, families to come by and take their pictures," Mayor Hill expresses to the council. “I’m in love with it. I’m so excited. I can’t wait.”
The mural will be 15 feet long and 8.5 feet tall and will be developed in front of the green backup generator located in the rear of the building. Community services director Chris Tribble says the mural is being developed through the public arts program and is estimated for a December 2020 completion.
