Joe King, one of thebroriginal founders of Kids Matter International, a nonprofit dedicated tobrhelping children in need in the United States and around the world, is leavingbrhis post as president and CEO at the end of September. King led thebrSouthlake-based charity for more than 10 years.
“It has been my honor andbrprivilege to work with passionate people who invest their time and resources tobrhelp children in need. I am proud of the work we have done together over thisbrpast decade and I am especially proud that I was able to help make a positivebrand significant impact on the lives of so many children,” said Joe King in abrpress release. “There is no greater reward than to see the smiles and hear thebrlaughter of children who are in such dire need.
“During his tenure asbrPresident/CEO, Joe built Kids Matter into the organization it is today with abrmission of providing needed programs, services, clothing, food, and financialbrsupport to disadvantaged children,” said Mike Parham, Chairman, Kids MatterbrBoard of Directors.
King establishedbrcollaborative relationships with partners such as Kohl's, Barbara BushbrFoundation For Family Literacy, Buckner Foundation, Ryan Palmer Foundation,brHeart Of A Champion, and many other nonprofit organizations and corporatebrpartners.
“Through thesebrrelationships, thousands of children benefit on an annual basis, by receivingbrclothing, shoes, school supplies, backpacks, food baskets, books, bicycles, andbrtoys,” Parham said. “In addition, schools in 26 states that serve underprivilegedbrchildren, teach character building traits to instill leadership skills in thebrnext generation of children.”
Marti Conner will resumebrthe role of president and CEO next month. Conner has served as alternate boardbrmember for more than five years, chaired the marketing committee for four yearsbrand is actively involved as a volunteer for the charity.
“[Conner] brings over 30bryears of marketing, strategic planning and branding experience. We are verybrexcited to have Marti as our new leader as we enter into our next decade ofbrserving children,” said Parham.
