Kathy Talley and Randy Williamson have won in their respective races for the Southlake City Council.
According to the exit polls, Talley prevailed against her opponent, entrepreneur Sabreena Hakemy, by 8,887 ballots, or 57.57% of the vote for Place 1. Williamson won against former law enforcement officer Victor Avila by a larger margin of 10,007 ballots, or 65.55% of the vote for Place 6. Both of their opponents conceded shortly after 9 p.m. on Tuesday night.
“I could have never envisioned the Southlake City Council campaign continuing for 10 months. It was the support of my wonderful family, friends and army of supporters that carried us to a strong victory,” Williamson says in a Facebook post. “I am sincerely honored by every vote cast for me, and I am committed to serving each of you well in the years to come.”
Talley and Williamson will be sworn into office during the next city council meeting on Tuesday, November 17, where current councilmembers Shahid Shafi and Christopher Archer will also vacate from their positions.
