With the pandemic, everyone has been staying at home for over a month now. And Southlake DPS tweaked the lyrics of Lisa Loeb’s “Stay” to fit our current situation.
Through the app Cameo, Southlake DPS was able to catch the eye of Lisa Loeb and get her to sing their version of the song.
“Why did I not think of those lyrics?” Lisa said after singing the "Stay at Home" version of her song. “They fit the music perfectly. Stay home, stay safe.”
“I was worried she wouldn't do it because you only have 250 characters to write to them and the app is primarily used for happy birthdays, or shout-outs and that kind of thing,” Brad Uptmore with Southlake DPS says. “I was able to squeeze in the lyrics just enough for the 250 limit, and then it was the waiting game.”
Brad says he wasn’t sure Lisa would do it because it was a rewriting of her lyrics, but 48 hours later, it was in his inbox.
“She did it and was amazing and got out [the] message out to our fair citizens about the importance of social distancing and staying at home!” Brad says. “We were pleased!”
