Metroport Meals On Wheels is looking to fill seniors’ stockings this December, and it needs your help.
Every year, Metroport Meals On Wheels collaborates with Sadie’s resale store to adopt seniors from its angel tree for the holidays. For 2021, Metrport Meals On Wheel decided to move the stocking shopping online for the health and safety of its staff, volunteers and shoppers.
This year’s Stockings For Seniors program is off to a slow start, and Metroport Meals On Wheels needs help from the community to fulfill the wish list for its remaining seniors. Metroport Meals On Wheels still needs 170 gifts this month, according to the organization.
“The most wonderful time of the year is often the most lonely time for seniors,” community development director Amy Robinson says. “Metroport Meals On Wheels started the Stockings For Seniors program several years ago to ensure our seniors are not alone and that someone is thinking of them this holiday season. By adopting a senior, you can help a senior to feel the holiday cheer they so desperately need during this difficult time of year.”
Gifts average around $25 each and can be purchased online from Walmart or Amazon. To learn more about Stockings For Seniors and how you can help, visit MetroportMOW.org.
