Pickleball popularity has certainly not waned since the sport burst onto the scene five years ago, and area municipalities are working to stay in lockstep with public demand.
Six new courts will be built in Trophy Club at Harmony Park after town council approved a builders contract at its most recent meeting. The courts will be built behind the current tennis courts.
Per the contract, the six courts will cost approximately $1.12 million.
The Roanoke Recreation Center also opened pickleball to all skill levels on January 1, with beginner, intermediate and advanced players able to play in two-hour increments on Mondays and Wednesdays.
With the announcement of these new courts, residents will soon be able to find a pickleball spot with ease in the Southlake, Grapevine and Colleyville area:
Southlake
Outdoor courts: General Courts, Bicentennial Park, 450 W. Southlake Boulevard
Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Tuesday and Thursday, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Cost: Free to public, first come first serve
Outdoor courts: Southlake Pickleball Facility, Bicentennial Park, 350 W. Southlake Boulevard
Monday - Sunday, 5 a.m. to 6:30 a.m.
Open Play also available
Cost: $15 for 1 hour, $30 for 2 hours with membership
Grapevine
Outdoor courts: Heritage Park, 411 Ball Street
Cost: Free to public
Pickleball classes are also available at Dove Park Courts, 1509 Hood Lane
