The Park Village Fountain is getting a new sculpture for its new makeover.
In November, the Southlake city council approved a redesign submitted for the Park Village Fountain located next to Gloria’s Latin Cuisine on Southlake Boulevard. In addition to a smaller fountain, performance area, pavilion and activity lawn, the redesign includes a new sculpture that will be installed on top of the fountain, and the Southlake Arts Council met with the Southlake city council last week to discuss public art considerations.
According to MySouthlakeNews.com, the arts council envisions a sculpture that portrays flight since the property is the former site of an airport. Discussions are currently ongoing with an Arkansas artist to develop the sculpture and construction began for the area earlier this week.
“Southlake’s pulic art program brings such a special feel to our community,” Mayor Laura Hill says in MySouthlakeNews.com. “Working with the arts council to bring another incredible piece to one of Southlake’s most popular areas is exciting. That corner deserves a special piece that captures the spirit of our city and all it represents.”
The sculpture and the fountain redesign is expected to be completed by June. To stay up to date on the project, visit CityOfSouthlake.com.
