One in three women have been victims of somebrform of physical violence by an intimate partner within their lifetime,braccording to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. And on average,brnearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in thebrUnited States.
S.P.A.R.K. wants to show women how to defendbrthemselves and avoid dangerous situations. On Saturday, October 15 from 1 to 4brp.m., the organization is hosting a free women’s defense and protection class at DPS North (100 E. Dove).brIt’s open to all girls in 7th grade or above. The session will offerbrpractical advice on how to stay safe and give women and girls usefulbrself-defense tips.
