Southlake's City Secretary's Office is one of the best in the state, and it has the awards to prove it.
The city announced earlier this month that, for the third time, the secretary's office earned the Texas Municipal Clerks Association (TMCA) Achievement of Excellence Award. The award recognizes offices that sustain a culture of high standards, forward-thinking processes, commitment to service while displaying efficiency, innovation and effective management of resources.
The award was created in 2020 and is given out every two years, according to the city.
“Much of what we do isn’t always visible to the public, but it’s foundational to the integrity and transparency of city operations,” City Secretary Amy Shelley said in a city press release. “This recognition highlights the accuracy, accountability, and care we bring to every detail — from records management to elections to agenda preparation. It validates the hard work that happens quietly but purposefully every day.”
Only cities with a Texas Registered Municipal Clerk qualify for the award, Shelley said. Southlake just happens to have three such clerks.
“Winning this award for the third time is both an honor and a testament to the consistent dedication and professionalism of our team,” Shelley said.
