From its funny videos to timely memes, Southlake DPS rules its social media pages. And its latest video is no exception. Channeling the magic of ‘Lord of the Rings,’ Southlake DPS made a video of Gollum arguing with himself over wearing a mask.
Brad Uptmore with Southlake DPS says after watching the second movie where Gollum argues with himself — and then blowing his kids’ minds with his Gollum impression — inspiration struck.
“I recorded the voices in an afternoon. My only challenge was finding words and intonations to match the unmasked Gollum's lips — and when I realized he coughed in that scene, I knew I could make it work for a wear a mask video,” Brad says. “I also knew that Smeagol would have a mask and have his lips blocked, so I could deliver the safety messages during his talking. I had trouble digitally adding the mask, so my buddy Jeff Sanford with Knurd Films knocked that out for us.”
Brad says he wanted to wait until the Lord of the Rings Hobbit Day in September, but with COVID-19 cases rising, he went ahead and put it out today.
“I think I used all the wordplay I had written,” Brady says about his ‘Lord of the Rings’ puns. “I was particularly proud of the 'that's what I'm Tolkien about.' So cheesy.”
