Southlake was named the safest city in Texas and the 22nd safest city in the nation in "MoneyGeek’s" Safest Cities and Towns of 2021.
Every year, MoneyGeek calculates the safest cities and towns in the nation by analyzing crime statistics and the costs associated with each crime. Out of more than 50 Texas cities to place on the 989-city list, Southlake placed 22nd and was the only one to crack the top 25.
According to the results, the violent crime rate for Southlake is 30.3, and the property crime rate is 1,171. That averages to an $84 crime cost per capita and a $2,769 total cost of crime for Southlake’s 33,049 population. Other Texas cities to crack the top 100 include Keller at 36th, Flower Mound at 61st, Friendswood at 80th and Wylie at 81st.
