After last year’s event was canceled, the Southlake Chamber of Commerce announced that Oktoberfest is officially a go for 2021.
Rated the Best Outdoor Event for Southlake Style’s Readers’ Choice 2020, Southlake Oktoberfest regularly attracts well over 100,000 attendants into Southlake Town Square for the festival. While fans were looking forward to Oktoberfest last year, the chamber had to cancel it due to COVID-19. The chamber announced that the 2021 event will take place October 15-17.
“We were very disappointed we were unable to find a way to conduct it last year,” chamber president Mark Guilbert says. “We could not be more excited about bringing it back this year.”
While the chamber is still working on its schedule of events, Mark confirmed that the ‘80s-themed band The Molly Ringwalds will perform as the event’s Saturday night headliner, and the popular Wiener Dog Race will return to the sports zone on Saturday morning. While it’s unknown how exactly the COVID-19 pandemic may affect the festival, Mark says the chamber will observe recommended safety protocols at the time to keep its attendants safe.
“Everybody’s been cooped up the last year, and they’re ready to get out and do stuff,” Mark says. “People should expect more German food, music and flair than ever before. This will be our best Oktoberfest ever.”
