The Southlake Police Department's School Resource Officer program is officially the best in the state of Texas.
During the Texas Association of School Resource Officers’ 2021 conference earlier this week, the Southlake Police Department’s SRO program was named the top agency in the state of Texas. The association recognizes outstanding service provided by SROs to their students, staff and schools. Cpl. Blas Hernandez and officer Kim Smith accepted the award on behalf of the department.
“When you put 13 police officers, servant leaders and command staff into every school campus, the result is purposeful connections, education, safety awareness and an entire team who finds this role not as their profession, but their passion,” officer Smith says via Twitter.
