Southlake is celebrating its 65th birthday this week.
While the Southlake area was first settled by pioneers in the 1840s, Southlake was not officially incorporated as a city until Sept. 22, 1956. Since then, Southlake’s population has grown from 200 to over 32,000, opened Southlake Town Square and the Bob Jones Nature Center and elected its first female mayor in 2015, according to the Southlake Historical Society. It also opened the Southlake Public Library in 2001, which celebrated its 20th birthday this week as well. In that same period, Southlake Carroll ISD became a 4-6A school district and has won over 60 state championships and eight Lone Star Cups.
Happy 65th birthday, Southlake! We look forward to celebrating many more with you!
