Earlier in May, Tarrant County commissioners approved the use of $30 million to provide economic relief from the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security Act. Now the commissioners court has approved of a program that will disperse those funds to the small businesses that need it most.
The small business assistance program can grant up to $10,000 per business owner depending on their qualifications. According to the online application, Tarrant County businesses are eligible if they have 25 or less full-time equivalent employees, have been in operation since January 1 and have either closed or lost profit due to COVID-19. Ineligible businesses include nonprofit organizations, real estate developers, franchisees and hobby businesses, among others.
The application period runs from 10 a.m. on Monday, June 22 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1. Applications are limited to one business per owner. Government-issued identification, payroll and expense documentation and a W-9 form will be required with each submission.
