Travelers, get your taste buds ready -- a former NFL player is opening a restaurant at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
Ray Mickens, who played cornerback for the Jets and Patriots during his 10-plus-year professional football career, will be operating a Smoothie King - Peach Cobbler Factory combination restaurant in Terminal D. Construction is currently slated to begin at the end of March, according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration.
The estimated cost of the project is $65,000, per TDLR.
Smoothie King has long been a dining staple in the Metroplex, and Mickens and his company M2 welcomed a standalone stop to Terminal A at DFW Airport back in 2024.
Mickens' son, R.J. Mickens, recently completed a storied career at Clemson, where he too played defensive back. R.J. Mickens also recently competed in the 2025 Shrine Bowl, the annual college football all-star game. He is projected to be an NFL Draft selection in the spring.
