Not everything is bigger in Texas. When it comes to burgers,brHawaii is home to some of the biggest around: Teddy'sbrBigger Burgers. But lucky for us, the Aloha State's behemothbr(and beloved) burgers hopped the Pacific and landed inbrColleyville. It's the first Teddy's in Texas, and we must say, brwe're glad it's close to home. Stop by and you'll see that thisbrisn't a typical burger joint. Here, a burger isn't just a meal; it'sbra masterpiece. Fresh, flavorful ingredients shine through inbreach meaty, majestic bite. Come hungry—it's something tobrbe experienced.br
Founded nearly 20 years ago in Hawaii, Teddy's BiggerbrBurgers lives up to its name. Each premium, 100-percentbrchoice ground chuck burger is charbroiled to perfection.brYou decide just how much burger you can bite: big (fourbrounces), bigger (six ounces) or biggest (eight ounces).brThe standard burger comes with a sweet and tangy specialbrsauce, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and pickles. Make it yourbrown by adding extras that range from Hawaiian-influencedbr(barbecue pork and grilled pineapple) to unique (furikakebrand seasoned hash browns).br
Teddy's claim to fame is indeed its gigantic, juicy burgers, brbut that's not all it does well. The restaurant's Umami Fries, bra combination of perfectly crispy fries, garlic butter, furikakebrand srirachi aioli, are incredible. And, if you have room, youbrcan finish off your meal with a handspun, extra-thick shake.br
Though Teddy's certainly isn't a health-food destination, brthere are lighter bites on the menu including salads andbrlettuce wraps. “You also have the option of grilled chicken, brveggie, turkey, salmon, fish fillet and pastrami,” say Brad andbrNancy Sinex, owners of the Colleyville restaurant. Teddy'sbrwelcomes all: beef lovers and everyone else.br
The atmosphere is fun and funky; it's a blend of burger-brshack simplicity and vintage surfer style. Look up and you'llbrspot surfboards hovering from the ceiling. Listen in and you'llbrhear a soundtrack of tunes from the '50s, '60s and '70s. It'sbrjust the kind of laid-back, family-friendly environment thatbrBrad and Nancy envisioned when they opened the shopbrlast fall. “We want people to feel relaxed, comfortable andbrcompletely satisfied,” Brad says.br
The Sinex family isn't just doing good by their burgers;brthey're also invested in the community. They're sponsorsbrand partners with Warrior Angels Foundation, a localbrnonprofit with a mission to help U.S. service members andbrveterans. Says Brad: “We'll be working with them to helpbrraise awareness and money for their foundation.”br
Are you ready to say aloha to Hawaii's burgerbrphenomenon? We say embrace it with open hands and abrhearty appetite. You'll be glad you did.
